Jak's Den in West Lothian welcomes People's Postcode Lottery ambassador Fiona Phillips

A West Lothian charity welcomed a special guest recently.

People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Fiona Phillips paid a visit to the new Jak’s Den base in Livingston to find out more about the services they offer.

Jak’s Den is run by the Team Jak charity, which provides practical and emotional support for young people aged up to 25 and their families who are going through treatment for cancer and related illnesses.

The charity has been receiving funding from the People’s Postcode Lottery and the group sent Fiona, who is one of their ambassadors, to meet the team at Jak’s Den.

Jak’s mum, Allison Barr, is Team Jak’s chief executive and she was delighted to welcome Fiona and the People’s Postcode to their new centre.

She said: “We get funding from the People’s Postcode and they have been supportive in so many ways. They do these wee videos where their ambassadors go to visit the charities they are helping so this was out turn.

“Fiona was amazing - she was really touched by what we are doing here. Next up I am going to do a live stream with them to talk about how much of a difference their funding has made to helping our project.”

Jak passed away in 2015 but the Rangers-daft teenager raised cash for leukaemia and lymphoma research right until his death.

Team Jak has raised over £1million since April 2014 and recently opened Jak’s Den mark 2 – for which £400,000 has been raised via a substantial number of donors, grants and fundraisers.
