Jaipur: Youth throws 3-year-old niece into well, held

JAIPUR: The city police Saturday arrested a 20-year-old youth after he threw his three-year-old niece into a well in a village under the Kot Khawada police station area.

The police said that the accused, identified as Vikas Kumar, had fled from the house after the crime but was caught a few hours later. The body was recovered from the well in the morning.

SHO (Kot Khawda) Yashwant Singh said that the accused had thrown the girl, Ishika, into the well and when the family members were searching for her, Vikas told them to look inside the well.

“He fled on his bike after asking family members to search in the well, he visited his relatives and was nabbed,” Singh said.

ACP (Chaksu) KK Awasthi said that Ishika’s father two days ago had reprimanded Vikas over chewing Gutkha (tobacco), “It may have irked him, but we are investigating the case to ascertain all facts,” he said.
