Jaipur: Shattered father says deaths a mass murder

JAIPUR: Sardar Meena, the 60-year-old father of the three daughters whose bodies were recovered from a well near Dudu on Saturday, was inconsolable. Banwari Meena, the 26-year-old brother of the three women, was shattered. Not only the family lost the three women, but also two kids to dowry harassment.

Sardar Meena said that seven lives have been slayed since two of his deceased daughters were pregnant. He termed the incident a mass murder and urged the police to investigate the case properly.

Bodies of the three women, a 4-year-old boy and a 25-day-old infant boy, were found in the well, four days after they all went missing mysteriously on May 25.

When TOI reached the village, Sardar Meena was sitting at an agriculture farm in Gangasagar area, just some metres from where post-mortem was being conducted upon the five bodies of his daughters and grandkids.

“Aadmi roz daaru peekar maarya karta, mhari choriyan ne maar diyo (Their husbands used to beat them up daily, they have killed my daughters),” said Meena, while wiping off his tears with a towel wrapped around his neck.

Sardar stated that his eldest daughter Kalu Meena was mercilessly beaten a month ago by her husband Nar Singh Meena.

“When we went at the in-laws’ house, the family alleged that my second daughter Mamata was in touch with a man with whom she talked during midnight on regular basis. My three daughters’ husbands, who are brothers, were also into character assassination of my children. When my daughters went missing, I had a doubt that they might have killed them. Only they (husbands) are responsible for these deaths,” Sardar said.

Sharing what was going on in his mind, the old man said, “Today not just five lives have been lost. I would say seven lives were lost as two of my daughters were pregnant.”

A little later, Sardar was pacing up and down asking questions from the police, FSL team and doctors about the post-mortem. “I had six daughters and a son. Now I am left with three daughters and a son. I would request the police to give justice to our family for the eternal peace of the departed souls,” he added. Sardar’s other three daughters are also married, but into three different families.

“Like any other father I thought things will normalize gradually and my daughters will have a smooth married life. Thus, I never complained to the police. But now I have given a complaint and I doubt that they were killed,” he told TOI.
