JAIPUR: The Jaipur police has banned mobile DJs, especially those on vehicles with mounted electronic music systems, for any function or procession on the city roads. This was announced as part of the campaign to control the menace by police commissioner Anand Srivastava on Wednesday.
"It is completely banned. If anyone defies it, action will be taken under Section 188 of IPC for disobeying the government order. Also, vehicles with mounted music systems will not be permitted as per the Motor Vehicles Act. I have directed authorities to take action against such vehicles having a mounted music system as per the Act," he said.
The city police will run a campaign against such vehicles, he said.
While police had taken action against such vehicles previously too, it will now be re-enforced. "Moving vehicles with loud music systems will not be allowed at any function. If we find them on the road, we will take action," he said.
In the wake of Karauli violence, Srivastava also asked the police to be vigilant about social media posts. "Action will be taken against those posting inflammatory messages or any content which can create animosity and unrest against any community," he said.
Earlier, the home department had also laid down terms and conditions for allowing the use of DJs at religious and other rallies. "Anyone seeking permission for DJs will have to fill a form with details, including the name and phone number of the DJ. Organisers will have to share in advance the contents they will play. And if competent authorities are satisfied with the content, it will be allowed," he said.
