JAIPUR: Four persons arrived from South Africa, attended a marriage in Jaipur, including husband-wife and their daughter, have tested positive for Covid-19 in the city, while five others who came in contact with them have also been found infected with the virus.
The family of four from South Africa were shifted to dedicated Covid-19 RUHS hospital, where they have been isolated, as per the guidelines issued by the Centre on international travelers. They were tested positive for the virus on Thursday.
Suspecting them of being infected with omicron, the health department swung into action on Friday and alerted Delhi from where the bridegroom belongs, who came to Jaipur’s City Palace where the marriage was solemnized on November 28 with a groom from Ajitgarh of Sikar district.
The wedding was attended by more than 100 guests, including the family who arrived in the city on November 25 from South Africa. Now, the health department is working hard to get the entire list of guests who attended the marriges as contact tracing. They have also informed the health authorities in Sikar from where the marriage procession had arrived in Jaipur’s City Palace.
“Suspecting them of being infected with Omicron, we are conducting our activities and so far we have found that nine persons, including four from the family who arrived in the city on November 25 from South Africa and five member of a family in Adarsh Nagar area who came in contact with them,” said Dr Narrottam Sharma, chief medical health officer, Jaipur-I.
