Jaipur: Junior engineer held for taking Rs 20,000 bribe

JAIPUR: The Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a junior engineer (JEN) of Jaipur Vidyut Vitaran Nigam Ltd (JVVNL) for taking a bribe of Rs 20,000 in lieu of providing an electrical connection to a factory.

ACB DG BL Soni said the bureau arrested Saurabh Singh Jatav, a resident of Jaipur’s Mansarover area, while taking the money.

Soni said the special unit of the ACB’s Jaipur branch had received a complaint about Jatav demanding Rs 25,000 in order to facilitate an 80 MV connection to a factory owner.

"The complainant had filed a complaint against the JEN, currently posted in the Jaipur Vidyut Vitaran Nigam Ltd in Sitapura," he said.

The ACB verified the complaint and laid a trap wherein he was caught red-handed.

The ACB officials said they were quizzing Jatav about the bribe money. "Further investigation is underway in the case," said an official, adding that searches were under way.
