JAIPUR: A burglar lured a 22-year-old youth through a gay dating app and robbed him of Rs 20,000 and shot his videos in a naked condition near a secluded spot under Harmada police station.
ACP (Chomu) Rajendra Singh Nirwan said police on Thursday arrested the three persons identified as Mahesh Meena (22), Abhishek Kumar (30), and Praveen Kumar (21).
According to Nirwan, Meena had set up an account on an online dating app called Blued. “The two began chatting with each other and decided to meet,” he said.
SHO (Harmada) Mangi Lal Vishnoi said the victim had registered an FIR on Wednesday, wherein he alleged that he met Meena near Ninder Road on Tuesday afternoon. The accused took him to a secluded room behind multiple warehouses where two of Meena’s aides were waiting in hiding.
Vishnoi added that the accused thrashed the victim, took away his mobile phone and cash. They forced him to undress and took photos and videos of him in the naked condition in order to blackmail him. Police said the victim managed to escape from the scene and reported the incident to police.
Police examined the complaint and spoke to the victim wherein he revealed that he had met the accused through a dating app. The police constituted a special team and followed searched for the accused at multiple locations.
Vishnoi told TOI that the scooter used in the abduction was also recovered by the police. Police examined the antecedents of the three accused and discovered that the kingpin, Mahesh Meena, was a notorious burglar.
“The accused (Meena) has five cases registered against him at Harmada police station. He is a burglar who had recently also broke into a house and decamped with an LCD tv, laptop and jewellery,” Nirwan told TOI, he added that Meena’s arrest is likely to unravel a lot of unsolved cases of burglaries.
