JAIPUR: Defending champions Jaipur defeated Pali 2-0 in the Inter-District tennis tournament final at the Jamna Tennis Academy on Tuesday.
The four-day tourney was organized by JSC Ohana Sansthan, Lodha Mandi Road, under the auspices of Rajasthan Tennis Association.
In a one-sided women’s final, Ayushi Tanwar blanked Pali’s Vaidika 8-0 to give Jaipur a flying start. Ayushi dominated from the word go and did not give any chance whatsoever to her opponent.
Suryanshi Shekhawat then sealed the fate of Pali by defeating Gouri in the second singles with a similar scoreline. The champion Jaipur women’s team received a cash prize of Rs 11,000, while runners-up Pali district got richer by Rs 6,000.
However, the Jaipur men suffered a shocking defeat from the unseeded team in the final. Unfancied Sikar stunned defending champions Jaipur 2-1 to win the Inter-District men’s tennis tournament title.
Top seeds Jaipur was given a winning start by Yash Chhabda when he downed Anil Hooda 10-2 in the first singles.
However, Sikar’s Priyanshu Choudhary shocked Prince Raj 10-4 to restore parity. In the deciding men's doubles, the duo of Priyanshu and Anil got the better of Yash and Prince 6-4, 6-4 to clinch the crown.
The men’s singles title was claimed by Priyanshu Choudhary, who ousted Anirudha Kumawat 6-2, 6-4 in a well-contested final.
Top seed Ayushi Tanwar proved her mettle by outclassing Jhanavi Kajala 6-1, 6-2 in the women’s singles summit clash.
