Jaipur: Despite many claims, JMC-Heritage fails to put trash in its place

JAIPUR: Even though JMC-Heritage recently purchased 100 new hoopers and getting more for rent, the sanitation condition in Walled City is yet to change.

Councillors across the city have been complaining about poor sanitation.

Arvind Methi, councillor from ward 71 in Kishanpole, said as hoopers were not coming on time and not covering all houses in the ward, garbage was accumulating on the streets.

Similar concerns were shown by Anurag Khetan, a resident of ward 92 in Adarsh Nagar zone, who said he did not know when the hoopers arrived in the ward.

"The condition of the ward is so pathetic that people have to walk dodging garbage. We have filed complaints, but to no avail," said Khetan.

Ashish Kumar, deputy commissioner of sanitation at JMC-Heritage, said the corporation was doing everything in its power to make things better. "We have received 100 hoopers and assigned duties. Officials have been assigned to monitor the preparation of Swachta Survekshan 2022 and improve the situation. If there is any problem in the city regarding the sanitation, we will look into it."

Shyam Sundar, a councillor from ward 91, said since morning he started getting complaints of garbage hoopers not coming in the lane. "My ward is so disgusting right now. Neither the hoopers are coming on time nor covering the entire area. Sanitation workers are also not working and drains are clogged everywhere."TNN
