JAIPUR: Unidentified burglars broke into the house of a businessman and decamped with cash and jewellery worth several lakhs in the Bhankrota area.
According to SHO (Bhankrota) Ravindra Pratap Singh, the incident took place at the flat house of one Nyaymurti Agarwal.
Agarwal in his complaint to the police said that he had gone to his second house Kamla Nehru Nagar on Wednesday evening. He returned to his house in Bhankrota on Thursday evening and discovered the flat was ransacked.
Agarwal claimed that cash up to Rs 8 lakh was missing. He also reported stolen which includes, which chains, rings, bangles, and other silver and gold items. The accused also decamped with a school bag, and a laptop.
The FIR in the case was filed on Thursday and the police said that they are investigating the case. While the total amount of the burglary is a matter of investigation, the police said that items worth over 15 lakh were may have been stolen.
The Bhankrota police said that the accused had cracked open the door locks of the flat to enter inside. Investigators suspect that the accused had conducted a complete recce of the area before finalising their target.
Meanwhile, a team of Bhankrota police on Friday scanned CCTVs of nearby areas and examined the evidence of the crime to collect evidence, ‘The accused had rifled through closets and drawers to collect valuable items,” an official said, adding that the police are probing is some new gang had staged the burglary.
