JAIPUR: The Jaipur airport has been adjudged as the top airport in the country while it has been ranked 51 in the world in the second quarter survey carried by the Airports Council International (ACI).
ACI is a global non-profit organisation of Airport Operators on Airport Service Quality (ASQ), which surveys the airports by checking 33 parameters.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) officials were elated with this achievement and urged their team to work harder to improve their ranking in the world as well.
“Our rank is first in the country in the second quarter survey from April to June. Out of 5 marks, we have attained 4.89 and our rank in the world is 51. Though our rank in the first quarter was 41, we would try to improve more in the upcoming quarters,” Jaideep Singh Balhara, director, AAI, Jaipur, told TOI on Thursday.
Goa was the topper in the first quarter has now slipped to number seven, while Jaipur topped amongst the airports handled by the AAI in the country.
Jaipur is followed by other airports, including Guwahati on number two, Pune on number three, Chennai, Trivandram, Kolkata, Goa, Patna, Bhubaneswar, Calicut, Vizag, Coimbatore, and Srinagar on number 13.
The parameters which are considered in the survey for the rankings included – ground transportation from and to the airport, parking facilities, value for money in parking facilities, availability for baggage carts and trolleys, waiting time in queue, efficiency of staff check in, waiting time at the passport/ID checking, courtesy and helpfulness of the security staff, flight information on screens, ease of finding the way through the airport, ease to make connections with other flights, feeling of safe and secure, restaurant and eating facilities, ATM facilities, value for money at shopping facilities and other factors.
