CHANDIGARH: Harwinder Singh alias Jugnu Wala, an aide of gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari, was arrested by Punjab Police in Mohali on Saturday.
Jugnu Wala was a criminal wanted by Uttar Pradesh Police, which had also announced a Rs 1-lakh reward for information leading to his arrest, said Punjab director general of police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav.
Police have seized a .32 caliber pistol along with six live cartridges, foreign currency worth lakhs of rupees, a car and two walkie-talkie sets from his possession, DGP added.
DGP Yadav said acting on reliable inputs, police teams from AGTF headed by ADGP Promod Ban and assisted by AIG Sandeep Goel carried out a special operation and successfully arrested Jugnu Wala from Mohali.
Police teams were led by DSP Rajan Parminder and DSP Ramandeep Singh.
