Judges sentenced a mum who keeps attacking police, a violent husband, an ex-boyfriend who made vile threats and two men who showed no concern for a teenager mowed down in the street.
Meanwhile, disturbing cases included a teaching assistant who molested a young girl, a sex attacker who placed adverts for topless cleaners and a man who filmed himself raping a young child.
Here is an overview of some of the most serious cases to have concluded this past week.
Alexander Palin
A teaching assistant sexually abused a vulnerable pupil in his car at a secluded beauty spot.
Alexander Palin, 30, preyed on the girl while working at her school in Runcorn, taking her to Wigg Island on the banks of the River Mersey.
Police said the teenage victim later confided in her mother about what had taken place, leading to Palin's arrest in November 2019.
The girl met Palin, of Sandown Close, Runcorn, outside school ahead of sexual activity between the winter of 2018 and summer of 2019.
Palin was found guilty of five counts of sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 17 and one count of abusing a position of trust.
He was jailed for three years.
David Pinnington and David Blackburn
Two EncroChat drug dealers conspired to supply cocaine, heroin and cannabis across Merseyside.
David Pinnington, 39, was arrested at his home in Rushey Hey Road, Kirkby after being identified as the user of the "LoftyHail" handle on the secret phone network.
On the same day, David Blackburn, 29, was arrested at his home in Springvale Close, Kirkby after detectives linked him to a handle titled "SuperBiking".
Messages on EncroChat were said to link both men to the supply of multi-kilo amounts of the two Class A drugs and smaller amounts of Class B cannabis.
They both pleaded guilty to conspiring to supply the three drugs.
Pinnington was jailed for nine years and four months.
Blackburn was jailed for 11 years.
Paula Heathers
Paula Heathers attacked police officers after calling 999 to complain that someone had damaged her TV.
The mum-of-three repeatedly kicked one officer as he tried to leave her home on November 11, after discovering her smashing her own TV.
The drunken 51-year-old then attempted to headbutt another officer after being arrested, before going on to try to headbutt an officer while in custody.
She was previously spared jail in July for money laundering dirty cash for her burglar boyfriend, and in March for assaulting a police officer in 2020.
Heathers, of The Green, Broadgreen, admitted assaulting an emergency worker and breaching two suspended prison sentences.
She was jailed for 10 months.
Darren Friday
Convicted paedophile Darren Friday was jailed again for trying to meet a 13-year-old girl at a hotel.
The 53-year-old received 14 months in prison in August 2018 for talking to girls aged 13 and 14 online, who were really paedophile hunters.
But the dad-of-two began chatting with who he believed was another child, but was in fact an undercover police officer, on Kik Messenger in 2020.
By doing so the pervert was in breach of a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which he also breached by having two mobile phones.
Friday, of Webb Street, Wavertree, admitted six offences including attempting to cause or incite a child to engage in sexual activity, attempted sexual communication with a child, attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming, and breaching a SHPO.
He was jailed for three years.
James Bell
James Bell drank 16 pints of beer and cider then hit two victims so hard they couldn't eat solid food for weeks.
Gary Baker and Mark Sharkey were severely injured after James Bell, 32, of The Summit, Liscard, Wallasey, punched them in the street.
He had been drinking in the Primrose pub in Martins Lane, Liscard on Saturday, June 5 this year, when there was a row involving a barmaid.
Afterwards, Bell attacked the two men outside the pub - breaking Mr Baker's jaw on both sides and knocking out two of Mr Sharkey's teeth.
Bell, who admitted two offences of inflicting grievous bodily harm, has a previous conviction for wounding.
He was jailed for 16 months.
Jayne Carley
Jayne Carley said she sold drugs to fund a habit triggered by a traumatic event in her childhood.
The mum was stopped by police when carrying £636 in cash, a "tick list" and a mobile phone that was "constantly ringing", in Rydal Street in Everton, on September 22 this year.
She was then stopped in Waltham Road, Anfield, after a drug deal on November 10, when she dropped a plastic bag to her feet, containing 12 wraps of heroin and 19 wraps of cocaine, in £10 street deals.
That day the 48-year-old, of Bala Street, Anfield, also had £19 in cash and a mobile phone, which was "ringing non-stop from various different numbers".
She admitted being concerned in the supply of heroin, possessing heroin and criminal property, and possessing cocaine and heroin with intent to supply.
Carley was jailed for three years.
Mark Lismore
Mark Lismore threatened to "blast" a young mum, burn her house down and make her a victim of "revenge porn".
The 31-year-old claimed his former partner caused him to lose his job by putting him under pressure to take days off to care for their son, in breach of a restraining order.
But the nurse - who the ECHO chose not to name - cut off contact with him after a heated argument on April 4, when he shoved her and she fell and cut her head.
He returned days later and kicked at her front door while she and the child hid upstairs, before making a series of vile threats via email and over the phone.
Lismore, of Gladstone Road, Seaforth, was found guilty of harassment and breaching a restraining order.
He was jailed for 40 weeks.
Liam Haydock

Liam Haydock blew a vulnerable neighbour's £40,000 life savings - leaving him with just £1.83 in the bank.
The wicked thief befriended the 65-year-old victim, who the ECHO chose not to name, and offered to help do his shopping during the pandemic.
But he instead went on "shopping sprees", buying Rolex watches, jewellery and mobile phones, to flog to fund his £100-a-day cocaine and heroin habit.
The victim's account was "stripped clean" - wiping out his lump sum pension - over six months from April to October this year.
However, Halifax bank won't reimburse him any of the money, because he gave his debit card to Haydock, 32, of Arden, Widnes.
Haydock, who admitted fraud, was jailed for three years and nine months.
Stephen McDermaid

Stephen McDermaid broke his wife's left hand when he kicked it as she tried to defend herself from his drunken attack.
The 46-year-old, of Camborne Close, Brookvale, Runcorn, woke her up during the night on April 13, 2020, when she heard him "shouting downstairs".
McDermaid, who had been "drinking all day", "turned nasty" when his wife returned home from work and rejected his advances, before going to bed.
She went downstairs, where McDermaid held her by the throat and repeatedly kicked her in the left leg, which she tried to protect with her hand.
McDermaid admitted seven non-molestation order breaches, and assault causing grievous bodily harm.
He was jailed for two years and eight months.
Lynne Bosanquet and Nicholas Bolan
A cashier was sprayed across her chest with an unknown substance by a hooded robber.
Lynne Bosanquet attacked Carol Rimmer at Waterloo Post Office while her boyfriend Nicholas Bolan blocked the entrance to the shop.
The two targeted the post office to try to steal cash to fund entrenched heroin addictions, but were caught almost immediately afterwards.
The spray Bosanquet aimed at Ms Rimmer was later found to be PAVA, a product similar to pepper spray, but this wasn't confirmed until hours afterwards.
The pair made off with a £100 bag of coins on January 30 this year, but Bolan was chased by two members of the public, who helped police find him.
Bosanquet was found at her partner's house, with two wraps of heroin and an aerosol hidden down her trousers, then later assaulted a detention officer.
Bolan, 48, of Sharples Crescent, Crosby, who admitted robbery, was jailed for four and a half years.
Bosanquet, 49, of Warbreck Moor, Orrell Park, who admitted robbery, administering a noxious substance, possessing heroin and assaulting an emergency worker, was jailed for five years and four months.
Kevin Daniels
Kevin Daniels handled £1.5m of dirty cash for a drug boss who used the name of Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker on EncroChat.
The identity of the crook who has adopted the name of the Reds' Brazilian shot stopper on the secret phone network remains a mystery.
But 40-year-old Woolton roofer Daniels worked as a drug and cash courier for him, under the handle "ExoticApe", in 2020.
He delivered at least 44 kilos of cocaine and stored hundreds of thousands of pounds of cash in his family home in Linkside Road.
Daniels, who was arrested in November, admitted conspiracies to supply cocaine and convert criminal property.
He was jailed for 10 years and eight months.
Ryan Hawkins
Ryan Hawkins filmed himself raping a young child then "boasted" about his sexual abuse online.
The 29-year-old raped one child and sexually assaulted another, which he later claimed was "a horrible f***ing mistake".
He shared a sick photo of one of his victims with a man he thought was another paedophile on the chat platform Kik Messenger.
But his bragging and claim he intended to rape the child again led to his arrest, as he was actually talking to an undercover police officer.
When arrested, Hawkins, of no fixed address but formerly of Southport, was found to have a video of him raping the child on his phone.
He admitted rape, two counts of sexual assault, two counts of making indecent images, and one count of distributing an indecent image.
Hawkins was jailed for 12 years, with an extended five years on licence.
George Jones

George Jones was caught transporting crack cocaine and heroin after police spotted him using his mobile phone while driving.
The 53-year-old, of Woodward Road, Rock Ferry, was spotted by officers on Brewster Street in Bootle and followed to Westminster Road.
But as red traffic lights turned green, the 53-year-old remained stationary, at which point police beeped at Jones for him to move on.
However, this caused Jones to stall and it was heard in court it caused him to "panic" and "begin fidgeting" on the passenger side.
Jones was pulled over and found to have two large bags containing 100 wraps of heroin and crack cocaine, with a value of around £2,000.
He admitted possessing both drugs with intent to supply and was jailed for two years and one month.
Matthew Bushell
Sex attacker Matthew Bushell placed adverts for topless women to clean his home.
The 48-year-old is banned from advertising for women to contact him as a result of past sex attacks.
The pervert lured two victims to his home under false pretences then sexually assaulted them in 2013.
Last December he flouted the ban by placing 32 ads for "consensual sexual entertainment".
Bushell, of Cobden Road, Southport, admitted breaching his Sexual Offences Prevention Order.
He was jailed for two years.
Elliot Watson and Barclay Redford
Two men chugged vodka and inhaled laughing gas before one of them crashed a car into a teenager.
Dylan Fryer was in a coma for 11 days after Elliot Watson drove a Vauxhall Astra into the 18-year-old on Battersby Lane in Warrington.
Dylan was taking his 12-year-old brother to a corner shop to get some sweets, but was thrown over the top of the car on October 29 this year.
He suffered "catastrophic injuries" including a "shaken brain", collapsed lung, multiple skull fractures and eight broken ribs.
Watson and his passenger, his girlfriend's son, Barclay Redford, then tried to avoid justice, while Mr Fryers' parents watched him fight for his life.
Watson, 36, of Smith Street, Warrington, admitted causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, aggravated vehicle taking and failing to both stop and report an accident. He was jailed for three years and eight months.
Redford, 18, of Makin Street, Walton, admitted aggravated vehicle taking and was locked up for 10 months.
