Jail warning for Ayrshire drink driver who was five times the limit

A Dreghorn man who drove while having five times the legal limit of alcohol in his system has been told jail could be on the cards.

Daniel Ross, 32, appeared before Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week where he admitted having 109 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath on November 11 this year.

The legal limit is 22 microgrammes in 100 millilitres of breath.

He also admitted driving a van on the same day without displaying ‘L’ plates, despite only being in possession of a provisional license.

On a third charge, Ross, of Mount View in Dreghorn, admitted driving without insurance.

Sheriff McMillan said: “I rate this matter very very seriously.

“These are matters in which the court has to have all options available including imprisonment.”

Ross will be sentenced later this month and has been disqualified from driving.
