Jail term for rape accused

A Chikkamagaluru court convicted a person accused of raping a minor and sentenced him to 20 years of imprisonment, besides levying a penalty of ₹ 1 lakh. Pradeep, 20, of Hadi Oni colony in Mudigere taluk committed the crime on April 1, 2020.

Mudigere police registered the case under POCSO Act and submitted the charge sheet. Vineetha P. Shetty, Additional District and Sessions Judge, on March 31, convicted the accused. Of the penalty ₹90,000 should be given to the girl as compensation.
