Jail sentence reduced for drugs lord from Sutton-in-Ashfield

A drugs lord has had his hefty jail sentence reduced after a recalculation of the time he should serve.

Mark Day, 46, of Wickerwood Drive, Sutton-in-Ashfield, was locked up for ten years and nine months in July with others involved in a conspiracy to supply heroin, including his brother Paul Day.

Mark Day's sentence was mentioned in court on Friday, August 9, when it was decided his sentence should have been ten years and two months.

This was working from a starting point of 12 years and with 15 percent credit for his plea of guilty.

At Nottingham Crown Court, the drugs gang were jailed for a total of nearly 100 years for their roles in the plot to supply heroin.

The 'Mr Big' at the Sutton end of the illegal enterprise was Paul Day, who oversaw arrangements for the delivery and payment for heroin and cutting agents.

He was jailed for 11 years and four months.

Mark Day was involved from April to June 20, 2016, before he returned to the operation for a period in October 2016.
