Jail for thief who targeted primary school and cars in Lockleaze

A man has been jailed for 37 weeks for a string of offences including thefts from cars, fraud and burglary.

Darrel Curtis, 36, of Brangwyn Grove in Lockleaze, appeared before Bristol Magistrates on Saturday, April 18 following his arrest the day before.

He admitted entering Stoke Park Primary School with intent to steal on April 10.

He also admitted fraudulent use of a stolen bank card to buy alcohol, tobacco and lottery tickets from a petrol station in Horfield during the same month.

Finally he was sentenced for three counts of theft from cars, two in Eastlake Close and Danby Street in Lockleaze last month, in which sunglasses, a dashcam, groceries and CDs were stolen.

A third theft took place overnight on April 6 in Crome Road, when a wallet was stolen.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Constabulary said: "You can help to look out for your community by joining Neighbourhood Watch and calling 101 to report suspicious incidents as they happen.

"Even if we can't attend immediately the information could help our investigations and target our patrols.

"You can also keep your property secure - don't leave valuables in your car overnight and do lock up and set the alarm whenever you park."
