A Blantyre man caught with cocaine worth £23,000 has been jailed for 15 months.
The drugs were found at the home of Stephen Dobbie’s mum in Logan Street, Blantyre, and his girlfriend’s home in Medlar Court, Cambuslang, in May last year.
Dobbie, 29, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court and admitted being concerned in the supply of the Class A drug.
His mum and girlfriend had their not guilty pleas accepted.
Neil Thomson, prosecuting, said police got warrants for both addresses.
Scales found in a bedroom at Dobbie’s mum’s home were stained with white powder. Cocaine-stained teaspoons were also seized as was a cup containing cocaine which was found in a handbag.
Officers also seized £1750 from a box on top of a table in a bedroom.
Moving on to the Cambuslang address, they recovered more scales and other drugs paraphernalia.
In total, more than half a kilo of cocaine was found in the two houses.
Defence agent Ian McClelland pointed out Dobbie had only a minor record and suggested unpaid community work as an alternative to prison.
He said: “My client has shown contrition.
“He has learned his lesson and has not been in trouble since the date of the offence.
“He is in full time employment and is supporting his young family.”
But Sheriff Thomas Millar said the drugs had a “substantial” value and the operation was split over two addresses.
He told Dobbie: “If you’re involved in the supply of Class A drugs you will go to prison.”
The sheriff ordered forfeiture of £1750 seized by the police despite Dobbie protesting that it belonged to his mum and wasn’t drugs money.
