Jai Field's position for Wigan Warriors debut revealed with team news announced

Jai Field will make his Wigan Warriors debut on the wing in the club's Super League opener with Leigh Centurions.

Field, who was a doubt coming into the game with a back problem, has overcome the niggle to make his first appearance for the club since his move from NRL side Parramatta Eels.

John Bateman will make his second debut for the club in the back-row, with Ollie Partington picked at loose forward.

A makeshift backline sees Zak Hardaker at fullback while Umyla Hanley plays on the other wing. Willie Isa and Jake Bibby are the centres.

New captain Tommy Leuluai partners Harry Smith in the halves. Jackson Hastings and Bevan French, as previously confirmed, do not feature.

As for Leigh, Blake Wallace and Joe Mellor will play in the halves with Ryan Brierley operating at fullback.

Former Wigan wingers Matty Russell and Lewis Tierney both make their debuts for John Duffy's side this evening.

There are also debuts for Keanan Brand, Adam Sidlow and Matty Gee.

Warriors: Hardaker, Field, Isa, Bibby, Hanley, Smith, Leuluai, Singleton, Powell, Bullock, Farrell, Bateman, Partington. Subs: Havard, Byrne, Shorrocks, Smithies.

Centurions: Brierley, Tierney, Brand, Thornley, Russell, Wallace, Mellor, Ioane, Hood, Sidlow, Hellewell, Gee, Thompson. Subs: Peteru, Eaves, Mason, Foster.
