Jaguars to sit 32 players in preseason opener vs. Ravens

The Jaguars start their 2019 campaign tonight in Baltimore with their first preseason game. As many fans know and have come to expect with Week 1 of the preseason, there will be very little action for the starters. The Jaguars have taken that expectation and raised it to another level.

The team just announced on Twitter that more than 30 players are not expected to see any action tonight. There are notable names on the list from both sides of the ball.

On the offensive side, some of the names are quarterback Nick Foles, tailback Leonard Fournetteand receivers DJ Chark, Chris Conley and Dede Westbrook, all of whom are healthy scratches. Additionally, offensive tackles Jawaan Taylor and Cam Robinson and receiver Terrelle Pryor are all out due to injury.

Looking at the defensive side of the ball, the whole secondary is sitting this one out. That includes Jalen Ramsey, DJ Hayden and Ronnie Harrison. Joining them from the front seven are Marcell Dareus, Myles Jack and Yannick Ngakoue as healthy scratches.

Gardner, not Gordon, Minshew is expected to start and see a good bit of action. Tonight should be a good indicator of the quality of backups the Jaguars have and where there can be improvement.
