Jaguars sign WR Tre McBride and DT Kalani Vakameilalo to conclude minicamp

As expected, the Jacksonville Jaguars made some minor moves to conclude minicamp Thursday by adding two of the players who were brought in for tryouts. Those two players this time around were receiver Tre McBride and defensive tackle Kalani Vakameilalo. To make room for both they waived linebacker Nick DeLuca and long snapper Christian Kuntz.

McBride, 26, entered the league in 2015 as a seventh-round pick from William and Mary with the Jags’ rivals the Tennessee Titans. After spending two seasons there, he had stints with the Chicago Bears, New York Jets and Washington Redskins before his arrival in Jacksonville. Throughout his career he managed to start in three games and participate in 17, while accumulating 10 career receptions for 152 yards and a touchdown.

Vakameilalo, 23, went undrafted this April after playing at Oregon State from 2014-18. While there he played in 46 games and started in 31 and managed to accumulate 75 tackles (13.5 of which were for loss), six sacks and one forced fumble. At 6-foot-3, 322 pounds, it looks as though he will play some nose tackle for the Jags when training camp rolls around and compete with fellow rookie Dontavius Russell in the process.
