The Jaguars signed former Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Dare Ogunbowale on Thursday, the franchise announced.
Jacksonville has actively pursued adding another running back because Ryquell Armstead remains on the team's reserve/COVID-19 list.
To make room for Ogunbowale, the Jaguars placed backup running back Devine Ozigbo (hamstring) on injured reserve.
The Buccaneers released Ogunbowale last week after they signed former Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette.
Ogunbowale has played in 20 career games and has 11 rushes for 17 yards and two touchdowns and 35 receptions for 286 yards. He originally signed with Houston as an undrafted free agent in 2017 and has also spent time with Washington (2017) and Tampa Bay (2017, 2018-20).
The Jaguars brought in former Atlanta Falcons running back Devonta Freeman for a visit this past weekend, but no contract agreement was reached.
Undrafted rookie James Robinson is expected to start in Sunday's opener against the Indianapolis Colts.
