A Jaguars running back, who ranks third in the NFL with 1,070 rushing yards this season, won’t play Sunday against the Bears, the team said Saturday.

Robinson, a rookie from Illinois State, hurt his ankle during last week’s game. He didn’t practice all week, but coach Doug Marrone said Robinson was probably going to lobby to play.

Robinson’s 76.4 rushing yards per game ranks fifth in the NFL, behind the Titans’ Derrick Henry, the Vikings’ Dalvin Cook, the Browns’ Nick Chubb and the Packers’ Aaron Jones.

Marrone talked this week about how impressed he was by the undrafted rookie maybe 12 or 15 days into training camp.

“I was like, ‘[Shoot], I”ve got to go back and watch this guy,’” he said. “So I went back and I watched all the film from when he was in college, and I realized just how much at Illinois State that he had toted the ball. He ran the ball. He was a workhorse. I watched a couple of turnovers, the fumbles, the hits and the things that the did and I did a little bit more research and I found out whatever he had — 8,000 or 9,000 yards in high school. I’m like, ‘Well, [shoot], this guy, he’s done it. He’s there. He’s been doing it.”

The Jaguars also announced that Mike Glennon, the former Bears quarterback, will start Sunday.
