Jaguars reveal changes: no tarps, new uniforms, lower concession prices

Less than a month after their loss in the AFC Championship Game, the Jacksonville Jaguars are staying busy.

The NFL team said Monday it is removing the tarps, which covered some seats at EverBank Field, during all home games next season.

And that's not all. The announcement came on the same day that the Jags began their 2018 season-ticket campaign, said new uniforms and helmets will be revealed this spring and revealed lower concession prices will be implemented at the stadium.

For the first time since 2005, the Jags won't cover any seats at EverBank Field. The removal of the tarps in the west upper deck will make 3,501 more seats available.

The Jags, who lost 24-20 to the New England Patriots in the AFC title game on Jan. 21, have some key draws on their home schedule in 2018. In addition to their AFC South opponents, the Jags will host the Patriots, along with the Philadelphia Eagles, Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Jets and Washington Redskins.

The Eagles beat the Patriots 41-33 in Super Bowl LII in Minneapolis on Feb. 4.

Interest in season tickets is high, according to a release. The Jags have received more than 5,000 deposits, much more than the roughly 700 they had taken in at the same point last year.

As for concessions, the most popular items _ hot dogs, pretzels, popcorn, nachos, bottled soda and fountain drinks _ will cost $5. Fans are allowed to bring their own food, as long as it is unwrapped and inside a one-gallon, clear plastic bag.
