Jaguars release kicker Kai Forbath after Josh Lambo extension

The Jacksonville Jaguars released place kicker Kai Forbath Tuesday, leaving Josh Lambo as the lone player at the position. With Lambo getting extended last week, the move was expected as the Jags will begin removing several players off their books to get their cap situation in the positive.

Forbath signed with the Jags back in the middle of December prior to their game against the Washington Redskins Week 16 due to Lambo sustaining a groin injury. It proved to be a smart addition as Lambo wouldn’t return for the Jags’ last three games, which may have been out of precaution.

During his three-week tenure with the Jags, Forbath was 4-of-5 on field goal conversions (80 percent) with his lone miss coming against the Miami Dolphins and was a perfect 3-of-3 on extra point conversions. Overall, he’ll enter free agency 120-of-140 (85.7 percent) in field goal conversions and 172-of-183 (94 percent) on extra point conversions.
