Jaguars QB Nick Foles won’t play vs. Broncos in Week 4

The Jacksonville Jaguars will be without quarterback Nick Foles when they face the Denver Broncos on the road in Week 4.

Foles suffered a broken collarbone in Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs and will be placed on injured reserve. Foles will be eligible to return to practice in six weeks and eligible to play again in eight weeks.

Denver will host Jacksonville in three weeks.

After Foles left Sunday’s contest against the Chiefs, the Jaguars turned to sixth-round draft choice Gardner Minshew. The rookie out of Washington State went 22-of-25 for 275 yards with two touchdown passes and one interception.

Minshew (6-1, 220 pounds) earned Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2018 and finished fifth in Heisman Trophy voting.

Minshew will start against the Broncos in Week 4. Josh Dobbs, who started his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, will serve as Minshew’s backup. The all-time series between Denver and Jacksonville is tied at 6-6.
