The media realm of football has come a long way from the days of old when the newspaper industry was king and ESPN was the quickest source of breaking news. If you need proof, look no further than the Jags’ new official team app, which will feature free streaming of their preseason and regular-season games. While streaming will be available only for their affiliate cities of Orlando, Daytona, Savannah and Gainesville, it’s still groundbreaking.
Last year around this time, the team broke similar news when they announced that they would be streaming all of their preseason games for free on their official site. However, shifting that ability to the palms’ of fans hands, while adding regular-season games, should be a huge hit as the Jags try to improve their marketing.
“Today we’re introducing a more intuitive mobile app, one that brings our fans closer to us, makes a positive impact on their game-day experience, and prioritizes the content and access that they are hungry for,” said Jags Chief Marketing Officer Julian Duncan. “We’re eager for fans to download, explore and engage with our team in a whole new way.”
The app will also feature stadium-friendly guides for those who need game-day information, secure digital ticketing and enhanced game-day alerts.
Those itching to test it out will get their first opportunity on Thursday as the Jags will visit the Baltimore Ravens at 7:30 p.m. ET. The app is downloadable for both Apple and Android users through their respective app stores.
