Jaguars move up to No. 20 spot in USA TODAY power rankings after win vs. Bengals

Our comrades at USA TODAY have released yet another edition of their weekly power rankings and the Jacksonville Jaguars have found themselves on the move (albeit barely) after a win against the Cincinnati Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium. After coming in at the No. 21 spot Week 6, they weren’t overly rewarded for their win over their winless feline foe Sunday and came in at the No. 20 spot.

20. Jaguars (21): Despite losing starting QB in Week 1, then getting strongarmed into trading their top player, they’re only one back of Colts in win column.

Hey, at least it marks progress.

The Jags found themselves off to a slow start Sunday against the Bengals and up until late in the fourth quarter it was a one-possession game. However, thanks to the late-game heroics of linebacker Myles Jack, defensive end Yannick Ngakoue and safety Ronnie Harrison, the Jags were able to pull away late in the game.

As for the rest of the AFC South, the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans finished at the No. 7 and No. 9 spots, respectively, after their battle in which the Colts won. Meanwhile, the Tennessee Titans finished behind the Jags at the No. 23 spot after beating the Los Angeles Chargers Sunday.
