Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey could be traded by Friday, but coach Doug Marrone said the All-Pro cornerback will be starting Thursday night against Tennessee.
Earlier on Wednesday, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that Friday is the most likely target date the Jaguars could trade Ramsey, who requested to be traded through his agent on Monday after getting into an ugly verbal exchange with Marrone on the sideline during Sunday's 13-12 loss to the Houston Texans.
Marrone said he met with Ramsey on Tuesday to resolve the situation between the two.
"Jalen and I have always had a good open relationship where we've always been able to talk," Marrone said. "We talked about what's gone on between him and I. It's like anything else in this profession, it's behind us now. His focus is on playing and doing the best job for his teammates."
During Sunday's game, Ramsey got upset with Marrone for not challenging a catch by Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins in which it appeared Hopkins might have lost hold of the ball briefly as he was being tackled.
Despite his trade request, Ramsey participated in team meetings and practices on Tuesday and Wednesday in preparation for the Titans. Ramsey had one of the best performances of his career Sunday in Houston when he was able to hold All-Pro receiver Hopkins to five catches for 40 yards.
During his 16-minute news conference on Tuesday, Ramsey spoke about not wanting to become a distraction for the team. However, Ramsey's trade request has overshadowed just about everything involving the franchise this week. The Jaguars head into Thursday night's game with 0-2 record and they have lost the last four games to the Titans since 2017, including a 30-9 loss last season.
