Jaguars inactives for Week 9 game vs. Bills: RB James Robinson to sit with heel injury

The Jacksonville Jaguars will be without arguably their best player Sunday against the Buffalo Bills in running back James Robinson. Prior to the inactive list being released, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport revealed that the second-year player would be held out do to the heel injury he’s dealing with from Week 8’s game in Seattle.

As for the rest of the inactives, the Jags decided to make receiver Tyron Johnson, cornerback Tre Herndon, tight end Jacob Hollister, and Jordan Smith all healthy scratches.

The Jags decided to sign receiver Laquon Treadwell to the active roster from the practice squad Saturday, which may explain Johnson’s listing. As for the other inactive offensive player, Jacob Hollister, the Jags seem to like the trio of Dan Arnold, Luke Farrell, and Chris Manhertz as their active players at the tight end position.

Meanwhile, Herndon has struggled on the defensive side, so the Jags will be going with a new option at nickel. Maybe that will be Chris Claybrooks, or maybe starter Tyson Campbell could be kicked in to the inside.

Lastly, Smith, who the Jags drafted in the fourth round in April, has yet to be active in a regular season game. However, the team labeled him as a developmental player when they selected him, so they may feel he’s not ready to see the field yet, though the argument could be made that time on the field would help his development.

As for the Bills’ inactives, their list of names are as follows, according to various outlets and the Bills Wire:

  • RB Matt Breida
  • OL Spencer Brown (back)
  • DE Efe Obada
  • DT Justin Zimmer
  • TE Dawson Knox (hand)
  • DE Boogie Basham
