Jaguars currently 3.5-point underdogs to Panthers

Just as they have been all year, the Jacksonville Jaguars entered Week 5 as road underdogs to their opponents, the Carolina Panthers, by a margin of 3.5-points per BetMGM.

After a hard-fought win at Empower Field at Mile High, the Jags will enter Sunday’s game with a 2-2 record, as will the Panthers after defeating the Jags’ longtime rivals in the Houston Texans last Sunday.

The Jags are also a +165 moneyline underdog for Week 5’s game, which means a bet of $100 on the Jags will payout $265 if they are victorious.

Similar to last week’s all-time record against the Broncos (6-6), the Jags and Panthers will enter the game knotted up with a 3-3 record against each other. The two last played each other in 2015 in a battle in which the Panthers won on the Jags’ home turf by a final score of 20-9. The Panthers also won the meeting before that in Charlotte by a score of 16-10.

Despite the game being one in which both teams are without their Week 1 starting quarterbacks, a lot of fans will be tuning in to watch the replacements of Cam Newton and Nick Foles in Kyle Allen and Gardner Minshew II. Both have caught fire and will enter Week 5 with a great deal of momentum, while trying to take on two of the most respected defenses in football. For that reason, fans may be in for a low scoring game, much like the Panthers’ last game which ended as a 16-10 win against Houston.
