The NFL fined a trio of teams this week for rule violations made during organized team activities (OTAs) last month.
Announced on Thursday, the Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers and Jacksonville Jaguars were the culprits. The latter received the largest fines.
Per the league’s website, the Jags were fined $200,000 while Jacksonville head coach Urban Meyer was slapped with another $100K violation.
Regarding the other two teams, they were both docked $100K. Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy and 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan each received $50,000 fines.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Jaguars’ rule-breaking had to do with violating non-contact rules during OTA practices.
No context on the Cowboys and Niners’ fines have yet to be reported.
In addition to the financial dings from the league, all three teams will lose practice sessions. The NFL is taking away one OTA practice from the Cowboys and two from the Jaguars in 2022.
The 49ers evidently already had spring workouts negated. Per Schefter, the NFL ordered the 49ers to cancel the final week of OTAs last month.
