The Jaguars came out spirited Sunday, breaming with confidence that they couaald keep optimism surging for another week.
They returned to the same stadium where the franchise has experienced nothing but misery since 2014.
When they trailed by a 30-17 deficit with just more than two minutes left in the third quarter, it looked like the Jaguars were on their way for more misery.
However, the Jaguars displayed a fight like no other Jaguars had been able to provide over the past six seasons. But the Jaguars still couldn't end a seven-game losing streak in Nashville, Tenn., losing to the Titans 33-30 on Sunday in front of no fans at Nissan Stadium.
Tennessee kicker Steve Goskowski's made a 49-yard field goal with 1:41 remaining for the game-winner. The Titans drive was kept alive when linebacker Myles Jack was flagged for pass interference on a critical third-and-five play.
The Jaguars(1-1) last hope to pull off a comeback win vanish when Gardner Minshew's pass intended for Keelan Cole was intercepted on their final drive.
Minshew completed 30 of 45 for 339 yards and three touchdowns.
The Jaguars rolled off 13 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to tie the score 30.
The Jaguars got remarkable play from undrafted rookie James Robinson and big-time catches from Cole, DJ Chark, and rookie Laviska Shenault.
Cole caught a 2-yard touchdown catch that helped the Jaguars close to 30-23. With just under eight minutes left, Chris Thompson caught a 14-yard touchdown pass in the right corner of the end zone that tied the score at 30.
Early on, the Jaguars didn't let Yulee native Derrick Henry take over the game as he's done previously. But they had no successful response for quarterback Ryan Tannehill or the Titans' play-action passing.
Tannehill passed for yards and four touchdowns. Tannehill led the Titans to touchdowns on their first two drives. He threw a 13-yard pass to Jonnu Smith and a 9-yard strike to Corey Davis for touchdowns in the first quarter.
The Jaguars were successful swarming Henry to keep him from enjoying a fast start. He was held to only 34 yards in the first half.
Henry came in Sunday having rushed for 714 yards in eight career games against the Jaguars, including 508 yards in four games played in Nashville.
Still, Jaguars had a mistake-filled opening half that included an ill-advised squip kick by Josh Lambo that enabled the Titans' to start their final drive before halftime in Jaguars territory at the 49. It allowed the Titans to extend their lead to 24-10 at halftime after Goskowski's successful 51-yard field goal.
