Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey was hanging out with Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson Sunday afternoon in Houston.
According to a tweet from SB Nation Radio’s Jake Asman via Watson’s Instagram, the Pro Bowl quarterback was hanging out with the All-Pro corner in Houston with their mutual agent, David Mulugheta.
Why is that news?
First of all, the Jaguars visited the Carolina Panthers Sunday, in the same early afternoon time slot as the Texans’ game with the Atlanta Falcons, and Ramsey did not travel with the team.
Secondly, the Texans beat the Falcons 53-32.
Why was Ramsey not with the Jaguars in Carolina? Why was he in Houston with Watson and his agent?
While it is improbable the Texans could make a play for Ramsey before the trade deadline given they don’t have the capital following the Laremy Tunsil trade on Aug. 31, Ramsey has been somewhat vocal about his wanting out of Jacksonville if he can’t get a new contract extension.
It also speaks to the dysfunction inside Jacksonville’s locker room. If the Jaguars succumb to the circus, then it means one less AFC South opponent the Texans have to worry about as they vie for their second consecutive division title.
