Jaguars cancel Tuesday, Wednesday practice sessions due to Hurricane Dorian

With Hurricane Dorian threatening the East Coast of Florida, Jacksonville Jaguars coach Doug Marrone announced that the team will not practice on Tuesday and Wednesday in his opening presser for Week 1’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The news comes after Florida declared a state of emergency last week and the city ordered mandatory evacuations for several areas.

Dorian was downgraded to a Category 4 storm Monday morning but devastated the Bahamas over the weekend as a Category 5 storm. It’s expected to be a Category 3 storm by the time it arrives in Jacksonville, which would still classify as a very dangerous force of nature. It will include wind gusts that could max out around the 40-75 MPH range for Jacksonville residents. Additionally, the city is expected to get two to six inches of rainfall depending on residential locations and power outages are expected.

Marrone also told the media that it was too far out to determine if the Jags’ game would be relocated as the team is set to host the Chiefs at TIAA Bank Field Sunday afternoon. He added that he’ll be communicating with Tom Coughlin and front office about the matter and that no plans had been discussed to move the game as of Monday morning.

We’ll have more on the Jags’ status and the status of the game as it becomes available and will post updates on our Dorian watch post.
