After losing in blowout fashion last week to a Houston squad many considered to be the worst in football heading into the season, there’s not much reason for optimism around the Jacksonville Jaguars. Next up is a team that won its first game against the New York Giants as Jacksonville returns to TIAA Bank Field for its home opener against the Denver Broncos.
And it seems that oddsmakers don’t like the Jags’ chances in that one. According to Tipico Sports, the Jaguars are 5.5-point underdogs on Sunday. They are +205 on the money line, which means that if Jacksonville wins, a $100 bet on it would pay out $205.
The over/under for the game is 45.5, which is about in the middle as far as next week’s NFL games go and would predict a score of about 25-20 if it’s competitive. It’s certainly not insurmountable for the Jaguars, according to the oddsmakers, but they’ll need to play much better in Week 2 to come away with a win.
Sunday’s game against the Broncos kicks off at 1 p.m. EDT.
