Jaguar and Citroen burst into flames three miles apart - within half an hour

Two cars - a Jaguar and a Citroen - burst into flames within half an hour in Manchester.

Dramatic pictures show the charred vehicles after they caught fire on Wednesday. They were around three miles apart.

The silver Jaguar was travelling on Chorlton Road in Hulme when flames were first spotted.

Fire crews were called to the blaze, near the junction with Mary France Street, at around 12.50pm.

Crews had to wash away petrol which spilled onto the road.

Police attended to deal with traffic as firefighters dealt with the blaze.

It is understood no one was injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.

Shortly after, at around 1pm, a woman had a lucky escape after her car caught fire in Levenshulme.

The Citroen was on Albert Roadm near the railway bridge, when the blaze started.

A witness said the woman managed to pull over before escaping from the car.

Fortunately, she wasn't hurt.

The Citroen was destroyed. Albert Road was closed in both directions whilst emergency vehicles dealt with the incident.
