Jags Wire mock 2.0: Early April edition

The Jacksonville Jaguars have started their pre-draft visit process, which means it won’t be long before the NFL Draft is here this month. That put us in the mood to head over to The Draft Network to simulate our second four-round Jags Wire mock of the offseason. Considering the moves that were made in free agency, here are the selections we came away with as the Jags still have a few holes to patch up before the regular season:

7.) Montez Sweat DE, Mississippi State – The Jags are really at a tricky spot with the No. 7 overall pick, so why not take a player who plays a premium position like Sweat. When looking at this pick, the class is too deep at tight end to take a player like T.J. Hockenson this early (at least without trading back) and going right tackle or guard here might not be the best way to utilize a top-10 selection.

As for Sweat, he’s proven to be an elite athlete over the course of this offseason from impressing some at the Senior Bowl to the crazy numbers he put up at the combine. Additionally, they truly do need depth behind their starting defensive ends as Dawuane Smoot hasn’t really flashed like the organization had hoped for.

38.) Chris Lindstrom OG, Boston College – After a dominant showing at the Senior Bowl it was looking as though Lindstrom would be taken in the first-round, but a lot of recent mocks have him being selected around this point. He’s a player who a lot of scouts have deemed as a safe pick and would be a solid road paver for Leonard Fournette on the right side of Brandon Linder, who is a Pro Bowl talent.

69.) Darell Henderson RB, Memphis – Henderson’s stock is ascending and if you’ve watched his tape, it’s easy to understand why. He’d give the Jags a player who is capable of breaking out for a home run play every snap. While it’s clear they have Fournette as their No. 1 tailback and added payers like Alfred Blue and Benny Cunningham, Henderson’s potential was too hard to pass up at the No. 69 pick.

98.) Tytus Howard OT, Alabama State – Howard is another offensive lineman the Jags got to look at during the Senior Bowl alongside Lindstrom. Despite being a small school prospect he held his own for the most against players like Sweat, Oshane Ximines and Carl Granderson in Mobile to name a few. At 6-foot-5, 322 pounds, scouts seem to like his mix of good footwork and strength, which could take him a long way at the right tackle position.

109.) Foster Moreau TE, Louisiana State – Moreau is a player who has tremendous upside and his best strength was his ability as an in-line blocker while with the Tigers. He also proved to be a sneaky receiver at the Senior Bowl, which has triggered the interest of many teams. For those reasons, a lot of draft analysts feel he’ll be off the board in the third-round, but the 2019 tight end class is so deep he could fall to the Jags at pick No. 109.
