Jags vs. Ravens injury report: Armstead ends night in concussion protocol, D.J. Alexander sustains a stinger

Between all of the penalties, poor quarterback play (from the reserves) and overall poor performance, there actually were some positives to take from the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Thursday night preseason loss to the Baltimore Ravens despite the final score being 29-0. One of those positives was the physicality rookie tailback Ryquell Armstead showed when on the field.

While he only averaged 2.8 yards with eight carries for 22 yards, Armstead ran the ball with authority, and the night unquestionably would’ve been better if he had starters blocking for him. Unfortunately, his physical style came at a cost as he ended the night in the concussion protocol. The Jags didn’t release a report afterward to tell whether he could’ve returned, so it looks like fans will have to wait until Friday to learn more from coach Doug Marrone.

The only other injury that was reported during the game was the stinger linebacker D.J. Alexander sustained. He didn’t return afterward, however, stingers typically aren’t severe and one would think he might be good to go next week against his former team in the Philadelphia Eagles, but ultimately time will tell. The last thing the Jags can afford is another major injury at linebacker, so Alexander’s status will be worth monitoring

We’ll be sure to report the latest on Armstead, Alexander and any other injuries on Friday as coach Marrone will have more information.
