Jags undrafted rookie safety Zedrick Woods retires

The Jacksonville Jaguars’ rookies reported to training camp Monday, but undrafted safety from Ole Miss, Zedrick Woods, wasn’t amongst that group. Instead, the Lake City native submitted his paperwork to retire, which now puts the Jags at a total of 89 players.

Woods, 21, was one of the many undrafted players to join the Jags after April’s draft, and with the Jags having questionable depth at safety, we thought he had a chance to make the final roster. He went to high school 60 miles away from the Jags facility at Columbia High of Lake City, Fla., almost making him a hometown player.

Woods was a player who had a great deal of buzz behind him after the draft as he ran the fastest 40-yard dash (4.29) at the combine. While attending Ole Miss, Woods participated in 49 games and started in 37 and ended his college career there with 133 total tackles and six interceptions.
