Jags take Auburn DT Dontavius Russell with pick No. 235, trade pick No. 236 for a 2020 pick

The Jacksonville Jaguars took their last pick of the 2019 NFL Draft Saturday after selecting Auburn defensive Dontavius Russell with the No. 235 overall pick. They were scheduled to make the 236th selection, too, but traded that to the Seattle Seahawks for a 2020 sixth-round selection.

Russell was a four-year starter for Auburn’s defensive front starting in a total of 49 career games, while participating in 52 games. At 6-feet-3, 320-pounds, the Senior accumulated a career total of 154 career tackles, six sacks, 17 tackles for loss and one forced fumble.

Russell is a player who most analysts deemed a runs stuffing specialist and feel is going to be a nose tackle on the next level. That means he’ll come into Jacksonville and learn from Marcell Dareus and Abry Jones, who rotate as anchors for the Jags defense.
