Jags sign third-round pick Quincy Williams

The Jacksonville Jaguars announced the signing of their last third-round pick in linebacker Quincy Williams Wednesday afternoon. With him now locked up, their entire draft class of seven is now under contract.

Williams, 22, was taken with the No. 98 pick out of Murray State this past April. While with the Racers, Williams played safety and accumulated a career total of 231 tackles, 18 of which were tackles for loss, nine pass breakups, three interceptions and three forced fumbles. During his last season there he led the team with 111 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions and two forced fumbles.

Williams is expected to battle for the Jags’ weak-side linebacker vacancy, which previously belonged to Telvin Smith. He got off to a solid start in organized team activities, displaying his agility and coverage ability and appears to be on the right track to earn his place as a starter.

Williams was one of the bigger storylines during Day 2 of the draft because much wasn’t known about him except that he was the brother of the New York Jets’ 2019 first-rounder, Quinnen Williams. However, after checking out his highlight film, it became that Quincy had skills, too, and he’s now become one of the more interesting storylines of the Jags’ summer.
