With their final 53-man roster set and waiver claims all rounded up, the Jacksonville Jaguars will end Sunday with six of their 10 practice squad spots filled. According to the team’s official page, offensive lineman Ka’John Armstrong, running back Elijah Hood, tight end Charles Jones, receiver Michael Walker, and cornerbacks Brandon Watson and Tae Hayes were all re-signed Sunday afternoon.
Of the group, Tae Hayes and Elijah Hood are the most notable names as both flashed in the preseason. Hayes, of course, was able to acquire the Jags’ first pick of the preseason Week 1 against the Baltimore Ravens. He continued his progress throughout the preseason and was one of the highest-graded rookies of the process by Week 3, earning an overall grade of 80.7, according to Pro Football Focus.
Hood, on the other hand, came on strong in the Jags’ last preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons. After signing with the Jags in mid-August, the young tailback wasted no time in terms of getting acclimated and was the Jags’ top rusher Week 4, accumulating eight carries for 71 yards. Most of that, of course, came on one of the biggest highlight plays of the preseason for the Jags as he took a carry up the interior for 49 yards.
The Jags reportedly will be signing former Washington Redskins offensive lineman Blake Hance and former Oakland Raiders receiver Keelan Doss to their practice squad, too, but it appears the team is waiting for both to officially put pen to paper. Once that happens, they will have two slots available and one would imagine they would be looking to land a quarterback with one.
