Jags say Josh Allen is Dante Fowler’s replacement

Many were upset when the Jacksonville Jaguars traded Dante Fowler Jr. to the Los Angeles Rams as their once deep defensive line rotation took a small blow. However, according to the team’s front office, the Jags have his replacement in Josh Allen, who was their first-round selection in Thursday’s draft.

Allen, 21, kept quarterbacks on the run while playing at Kentucky, racking up a career total of 224 tackles (41 for loss) and 31.5 sacks. He played from a two-point stance while there, but as mentioned above by Daniel Popper, the Jags feel he’s versatile enough to play outside linebacker and put his hand in the dirt.

In guessing, playing strong-side linebacker might be his best fit when he’s not lining up on the edge. That would allow the Jags to move Myles Jack to the weak-side (where he’s flourished at) if they don’t think Telvin Smith is in their long-term plans.
