Jags rookie RB James Robinson makes PFWA all-rookie team for 2020

The Jacksonville Jaguars’ 2020 season was the roughest fans have had to endure in team history, but there were positives to come from it. One of those positives was undrafted rookie running back James Robinson, who surprised the NFL by becoming one of the best players at his position.

When the season was over, Robinson had 240 carries for 1,070 rushing yards and seven touchdowns to his name. His rushing total was good for the fifth-highest in the league as only Aaron Jones, Jonathan Taylor, Dalvin Cook, and Derick Henry were ahead of him, respectfully. Despite being on a struggling team, that has finally got him some recognition from the Pro Football Writers Association, who named him to their all-rookie team this week

Robinson making the PFWA’s all-rookie team is well deserved as he made history on several occasions in the undrafted rookie category. His top achievement was surpassing Dominic Rhodes for the most yards from scrimmage (1,328) of any undrafted rookie. Thanks to Robinson, the record is now set at 1,414 yards.

The Jags have had players on PFWA’s all-rookie team for the last two consecutive years. After 2019, defensive end Josh Allen and offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor made the team, too. Allen had 10.5 sacks as a rookie, while Taylor didn’t miss a single offensive snap during the entire 2019 season.
