Jags remove TE James O’Shaughnessy from PUP list

The Jacksonville Jaguars removed yet another player off of their Active/Physically Unable to Perform list Wednesday in tight end James O’Shaughnessy. With his addition, the Jags now have zero players left with a PUP designation.

O’Shaughnessy, 28, is returning from an ACL tear he sustained Week 5 against the Carolina Panthers last season. The injury occurred on a play where Gardner Minshew II hit him for a pass in the flats, and in the process of trying to advance the ball, O’Shaughnessy went down and immediately grabbed his knee.

The veteran’s return is one that may be bigger than some fans realize as O’Shaughnessy was a popular target for Minshew early last season. In fact, two of his touchdown passes were to the veteran, who ended up finishing the season with 14 catches for 153 catches and two touchdowns on the season.

O’Shaughnessy will now join forces with veteran tight end Tyler Eifert, who the Jags signed in free-agency, and 2019 third-round pick Josh Oliver. O’Shaughnessy’s presence should also help the Jags groom rookie selection Tyler Davis, who the team snagged in the sixth-round of April’s draft.
