Jags remain 2.5-point underdogs against Chargers

As of Saturday, the Jacksonville Jaguars remain 2.5-point underdogs to the Los Angeles Chargers just as they did earlier in the week, per BetMGM. The total also remained at 43.5 points, while the money line is also still set at +145 for the Jags.

The Chargers have had the Jags’ number in the past with a 7-3 record against them, however, the Jags can at least hang their hats on the fact that they defeated the Chargers in their last meeting back in 2017 by a score of 20-17. It also helps that Sunday’s battle will take place at their home stadium just as their last win did because the Jags traditionally haven’t traveled well to the West Coast in recent history.

If the Jags are going to overcome their odds as underdogs, rookie quarterback Gardner Minshew II, who is replacing Nick Foles this week, is going to have to find a way to have success against the league’s No. 4 passing defense led by pass rushers Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa. His defense (ranked No. 10 against the pass) is also going to have to find a way to stop Philip Rivers and the No. 6 ranked passing attack, which averages 274.2 passing yards a game.
