Jags promote WR Michael Walker from practice squad, waive LB Joe Giles-Harris

The Jacksonville Jaguars made a couple of roster moves Saturday by promoting receiver Michael Walker from their practice squad to their 53-man roster and waiving linebacker Joe Giles-Harris to clear a spot for him. The move came as the team was preparing to square up against the Houston Texans in London for a Week 9 showdown that feels like a must-win for the Cardiac Cats.

Walker, 23, went undrafted out of Boston college in April’s draft and joined the Jags afterward. He played in all four of the Jags’ preseason games, racking up two catches for 35 yards in the process. When the team made their final cuts, Walker was waived but was later picked up for a practice squad spot.

Giles-Harris, also joined the Jags after April’s draft as an undrafted player. He was one of two undrafted players to make the final roster (alongside Andrew Wingard). The Jaguars waived him a day later but added him to their practice squad not too soon after. With a rash of injuries occurring at linebacker, they promoted him to the 53-man roster two weeks ago.

The addition of Walker could be due to the Jags’ pending situation with Dede Westbrook, who was ruled questionable with a neck/shoulder injury for Week 9’s game against the Houston Texas. And while he won’t start in Westbrook’s place if he can’t go, Walker does give them better numbers at the position as they are also dealing with Marqise Lee being placed on IR with a shoulder injury.
