Jags place exclusive rights tender on LB Austin Calitro

The Jacksonville Jaguars placed a second-round tender on receiver Keelan Cole Tuesday afternoon but decided that they wouldn’t stop there. The team also placed an exclusive rights tender on linebacker Austin Calitro.

Calitro, 26, was picked up by the Jags last season via the waiver wire in September after he had spent some time with the Seattle Seahawks. With the Jags’ linebacking corps being decimated with injuries, he appeared in 13 games and started in four. He was able to rack up 38 tackles (four for loss), and a sack.

If Calitro signs the tender, he could end up being a good depth piece with the team after the time he saw on the field last year. He could also end up being a solid special teams contributor, which will be the biggest key to him acquiring a roster spot heading into the regular season.
