Jags place DT Davon Hamilton on IR, make other moves before game vs. Vikings

The Jacksonville Jaguars made several transactions Saturday to prepare their roster for the Minnesota Vikings. That included the activation of safety Josh Jones and linebacker Shaquille Quarterman from injured reserve and the promotion of cornerback Nate Meadors from their practice squad.

Jones’ and Quarterman’s activation were expected as the Jags’ defense is banged up heading into Week 13. The Jags could be without starting safety Jarrod Wilson who is questionable, so having Jones back gives them better numbers at the position. Meanwhile, Quarterman’s activation comes as the Jags will be down one linebacker in Dakota Allen, who was ruled out with a hamstring injury Friday.

Sunday’s game will be Meadors’ first with the Jags after the team signed him to their practice squad in October. He’ll recognize a good bit of the players on the opposite sideline as he entered the league as an undrafted player for the Vikings in 2019.

As for the subtractions from the Jags’ roster, nose tackle Davon Hamilton was placed on injured reserve as expected. He exited last week’s game against the Cleveland Browns with a knee injury which was thought to be severe. Luckily, that was not the case for Hamilton and it was announced that his injury wasn’t long-term earlier in the week.

Like Hamilton, Ellefson started last week, too, and sustained a knee injury in the game.

Lastly, the Jags waived running back Craig Reynolds Saturday. He only took the field for one game with the Jags after spending time on their practice squad and that was their last game against the Browns. In the process, he was able to register five snaps on special teams.
